Family Themed Music & Movement Activities

Family Dance Party

Play some music and have children dance like different family members. For example, they can dance like a baby, a grandparent, a sister, a brother, a pet. They can jump, stomp, twirl, etc.

Household Item Musical Instruments

Play some music and have children use household items for musical instruments to keep the beat of the song. You could have them use spoons to tap together, pots with wooden spoons for drums, lids, boxes for drums, and so on.

Lullabyes

Teach children a simple lullaby, such as “Hush Little Baby”, “Rock-a-Bye Baby”, or “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star”. Allow children to take turns holding baby dolls from the dramatic play area as they sing the babies to sleep.
